On this page we list new features and fixes in the new WeLib versions released.

Version 3.5.0

Release date: May 20, 2021

SSO

  • Single sign-on (SSO) via Google, Skolfederationen and Microsoft Office 365 is supported. Attribute description is now available in the online help. Enabling single sign-on for your WeLib installation comes with an additional cost. Learn more in the online help: Enkel pålogging (SSO)

STAND-ALONE WELIB

  • A Delete item button has been added on the item page that can be reached when scanning barcodes under Manage the library. If the item is not on loan, it can be deleted.

  • In Manage the library, the school libraries are now listed in alphabetical order.

  • When creating a reservation, the schools are now listed in alphabetical order.

  • The librarian can now use filters for renewals, loans and all loans (renewals and loans) in the statistics.

  • Class can now be seen on the Manage loans page beside the name of the student.

  • When printing loans from on the Manage loans page, the class will also be included on the printout.

  • When a librarian or teacher borrows an item to a student, the list of all students in one class is displayed.

  • Fewer clicks are required when adding records to the catalogue.

PATRONS

  • Patron details on My page are possible to edit if the system allows the patron to do changes. This can be configured and the administrator needs to contact Axiell support for this kind of changes.

SELF-SERVICE

  • An issue regarding Norwegian date format when using self-service has been solved.

  • Self-service is now supported for Norwegian schools.

INTEGRATIONS

  • An issue with SSO in Google Chrome has been solved.

  • The updated Sierra API is supported.

REVIEWS

  • Words in reviews that include å, ä or ö now generate hits when searching. Note: Existing reviews need to be resaved to become searchable.

CATALOGUE RECORDS

  • URLs in catalogue records will be published and shown for all schools in one installation with many schools.

SECONDARY WORKS

  • An issue with public secondary works has been solved.

SELF-PUBLICATION

  • Publication dates in self-publication can now be added in the calendar.

ACCESSIBILITY, USER INTERFACE AND STYLING

  • An issue with reading eBooks from ElibU has been solved. The modal window is now wider.

  • An issue with missing schools in the header when using mobile devices has been solved.

  • Departments are now visible in filters and the school does not have to be chosen, if there is only one school in the installation.

USER DOCUMENTATION

Version 3.4.0

Release date: November 27, 2020

ROLES

  • When importing users from Quria, the roles student, librarian and teacher are supported, and will be given the correct role, class and school in WeLib.

STAND-ALONE WELIB

  • A maximum number of renewals per loan period can be defined. These settings can only be made by someone with librarian permissions.

  • The search in Manage loans has been improved, particularly regarding alphabetical sorting.

  • It is now possible to filter loans for a class.

  • The number of sent reminders in Manage loans is now correct.

  • It is now possible to go back to the search results after having opened a title in Manage loans.

  • In schools where the learning resource module is used, it is now possible for the librarian to filter for all resources, only learning resources or non-learning resources in Manage loans.

  • The text in reminders has been improved.

  • In installations with many schools, it is now possible to show statistics from ElibU for separate schools.

  • An issue with saving language settings in catalogue records has been fixed.

ACCESSIBILITY, USER INTERFACE AND STYLING

  • The user experience when navigating in WeLib using a mobile device has been improved in many different areas.

  • Improvements in Norwegian Bokmål and Norwegian Nynorsk have been implemented.

  • Swedish subject areas are no longer displayed on non-Swedish WeLib sites.

  • An issue with My page has been fixed.

  • An issue with RSS has been fixed.

  • An issue with a feedback message when signing in has been fixed.

  • An issue with searching by Click on suggested search has been fixed.

  • Online help is now available for special libraries (English only): help.welib-spec.axiell.com/en_GB/Content/Home.htm

  • Accessibility information is now available on all Swedish WeLib sites.

MESSAGES

  • An issue with sending email from WeLib has been fixed.

USER SYNCHRONIZATION

  • Several fixes related to user synchronization have been implemented.

COLLECTIONS

  • An issue with hyphenation of title descriptions has been fixed.

  • For customers that have converted from BOOK-IT to local WeLib, shelf mark is now displayed on the catalogue details page.

  • Facets are presented consistently in records and for filtering.

INSTALLATIONS WITH BOOK-IT/SIERRA/AURORA/QURIA BACKENDS

  • Improvements regarding reservations on My page have been implemented.

COVERS

  • An update in cover services for all non-Swedish customers has been done.

INTEGRATIONS

  • Inläsningstjänst is now supported for Swedish customers with contract to integrate external resources.

CONFIGURATION

  • Departments in facets are only visible after selecting a school.

Version 3.3.0

LEARNING RESOURCES MODULE (all markets, stand-alone WeLib)

The new module Learning resources is used to grant teachers permission to manage learning resources in the catalogue. To order this module, create a request in the support portal servicedesk.axiell.com. Some of the features of the new module:

  • Possibility for teachers to add items
  • Searching learning material to make it easy to find class sets
  • Managing circulation of learning resources
  • Overview of loans of learning resources
  • Sending reminders to students

STAND-ALONE WELIB (all markets)

  • Improved search on the Manage loans page:
    • Possibility to search: statuses (ongoing or overdue), only learning resources or all resources, title, patron and barcode in all categories
    • Possibility to search for items checked out at other schools
  • Fixed due date
  • Improved message for automatic reminders with support for variables
  • Easier to add items to the catalogue
  • Print reservation slips

  • Items with reservation status Ready to be picked up are shown as not available. You can also see the text Reserved below the barcode in the item details on the catalogue record page.

  • The correct number of reminders is displayed on the Manage loans page.
  • One catalogue record can now have two ISBN, a duplicate check will be done for both ISBN:s.
  • Improved csv files after export.
  • Patrons can clearly see, on My page, when an item is overdue. “Delayed return” is replaced with ”Overdue”.
  • Expired reservations are automatically removed from Manage reservations

ACCESSIBILITY, USER INTERFACE AND STYLING

Many accessibility improvements related to the WCAG requirements have been made, for example:

  • Improved support for keyboard navigation
  • Improved tab order
  • Improved navigation indication

Information about the accessibility in WeLib will be displayed in the footer of the start page (published before September 23, 2020). All users will be able to see this information without signing in. The library administrator can also activate a contact form to allow users to send improvement suggestions of the accessibility in your digital school library WeLib.

  • Support for Cyrillic letters

MESSAGES

  • It is no longer possible to send empty messages using the Contact librarian functionality.

COVERS

  • Covers are now fetched from Bokinfo instead of from Adlibris.

SEARCH

  • All active filters are cleared when clicking the WeLib logotype.

USER EXPERIENCE

  • The page MeLib is now called My page.
  • The user interface is continuously improved for usability and accessibility purposes. Some examples: improved user interface texts, location of the cursor and a possibility to browse lists from the top of the list.

STATISTICS

  • It’s possible to filter on roles when generating statistics.
  • Statistics from ELibU is now displayed.

COLLECTIONS

  • It’s now possible to enter a year when cataloguing objects.
  • In addition to the barcode, information about item status, loan status and currently on loan to is displayed when opening the details page of an item.
  • Printout of the collection is neatly presented when printing it from the browser.

ONLINE HELP

RESERVATIONS

  • Making reservations in standalone WeLib is now supported. You find reservation settings under Manage the library. Reservations can be ordered from our support.

SEARCH

  • Facets for Title and Series have been added to standalone WeLib. Contact our support to activate it.

ADMINISTRATION

  • It is possible for the administrator to see all schools from start.
  • Staff can only edit the start page of their own school.
  • Automatic reminders are supported in standalone WeLib.
  • An issue with logging in on multiple accounts has been fixed.

COLLECTIONS

  • Covers for records can be deleted
  • When adding multiple items to a record Standalone WeLib, you see the number of successful additions. If some additions failed, the barcodes for these are displayed.
  • DVD and Other can be selected as resource type when cataloguing in Standalone WeLib
  • An issue with fields that under certain circumstances were not copied when adding items in Standalone WeLib has been fixed. (CH00031671)
  • An issue with a user that under certain circumstances could not access items from ElibU has been fixed.

USER EXPERIENCE

  • The user interface is continuously improved for usability and accessibility purposes, for example with a better user experience when logging in.
  • An issue with likes that were missing on records has been fixed.
  • An issue with top lists Standalone WeLib that could not be exported in csv format has been fixed.
  • Schools with SAML2 and Skolfederation log-in can have this log-in as first choice. Contact our support to add this.
